MORSE In Memoriam: Actors Who Appeared in the First Series and Have Since Passed Away.

Hello everyone and welcome to a new post. This video is the first of a series that will continue up to the last episode of the Morse series.

It is my small way of thanking all those who have made the Morse Universe a much better place. All too often we forget how much the character actors and the bit players make the Morse Universe what it is.

What is Patreon? Patreon is a membership platform that makes it easy for artists and creators to get paid. It’s a membership platform that provides business tools for creators to run a subscription content service, with ways for artists to build relationships with their subscribers, or “patrons”.

With Patreon you set up how much you wish to pay monthly. There are three tiers, $5, $10 and $15. It’s like paying for a magazine subscription.

Patreon primarily uses Paypal which is easy to join and a safe way to send money. https://www.paypal.com/uk/home

  1. Thanks for this. A bit shocking how many of the actors have since passed since starring in the first season of Morse. Having finished watching all the Morse and Lewis episodes on Amazon Prime a few months ago, I started again last night using the DVD collections I purchased of both series. Looking forward to seeing them again although I still have not fully recovered from the ending of Morse the first time I saw that episode.

    1. “I still have not fully recovered from the ending of Morse the first time I saw that episode.”

My sentiments exactly. I am still traumatized by that final story, although I remind myself that this was precisely the sort of emotional reaction the director was aiming for.

Speaking of which: Chris, in “The Remorseful Day,” Morse was obviously supposed to look, speak, and act decrepit and over-the-hill. I am wondering whether what we saw was entirely a combo of makeup and JThaw’s superb acting, or if some of it was really the result of Thaw’s own illness. In that episode Morse often sounds kind of raspy, for example, and his mouth seems dry and drawn, and it struck me that this could have been the way Thaw truly looked and spoke at that point in his life. Thoughts?

  2. Thank you, Chris, it seems that there’s hardly anybody left any more! Of course that first series was decades ago, to be fair.

Question for you, please. A few of your older posts have video imbeds which seem to have been removed. Morse’s Eating Habits, for example. Are you aware of this?

    1. Hi Marie. I am aware of the missing videos. When I get time I am planning to through my old posts and sort out all the problems. I will also make the early reviews much more comprehensive. But thank you for taking the time to make me aware of the problem.
