Hello and welcome to a new post. Kevin Whately appeared in the Scottish comedy, Still Game as Cameron Hastie, a dentist who has been struck off.

Kevin was interviewed by the Scottish newspaper, The Daily Record, as to why he decided to appear in the episode.

“Michael, the director, comes from the north-east of England and thought it would be nice to have a different accent in it. “Northumberland being next to Scotland, I suppose it made some sense. “They sent me the script in
the summer. It made me laugh out loud. I was already a fan of the show. “I did think a little bit about how you could become a dentist and become so bad at it that you get struck off. “I decided he was a middle class Geordie who had a bit of a drink problem.” Whately felt at home alongside Ford Kiernan, Greg Hemphill and Sanjeev Kohli’s characters, Jack, Victor and Naveed – having spent his first year of acting on the stage at Perth theatre. He landed parts in panto as well as plays such as the bedroom farce Move Over Mrs Markham, Noel Coward’s Cowardy Custard and Scottish restoration play, A Muckle Steer.”

Enjoy.

Up until a few years ago I was my mum's full time carer. She died in, 2020, of Covid. At the moment I am attempting to write a novel.

  1. Kevin’s cameo made me laugh as well, very droll.

I cried at the news of Barbara Leigh-Hunt’s death. Such a wonderful actress and her sensitivity and pathos makes that episode, The Infernal Serpent, so moving in spite of its dark content. I am also a great fan of Cheryl Campbell who has never given less than an amazing performance.

Thank you Chris for keeping us up-to-date.
