Book Collector Magazine October 1999. How Much Is That First Edition Worth?

Hi everyone I hope this post finds you well.

I came across the above pictured magazine on Ebay and of course I decided to share it with all of you.

The article contains very little new information to Morse fans but there is some interesting little gems to be found.

Of course the magazine was published in 1999, (my God nearly twenty years ago), and so many of the prices mentioned regarding the worth of first editions etc will no longer be relevant. The prices now I imagine have trebled or even quadrupled since this magazine was published. With Colin’s death it is possible that the prices for first editions and other early published novels have skyrocketed. (Oh how I wish I had kept hold of all mine).

I hope you enjoy the article. Take care everyone and remember to subscribe by either entering your email (see the red arrow) or if you have a WordPress account then press where the purple/cerise??? line is pointing.

Joining the forum does not mean you have subscribed. Subscribing can only be done by the two methods mentioned above.

Enjoy the article.

Until my next post, take care.

  1. I’m still upset that I sold most of my books including Colin Dexter’s when we were going through financial hardship a few years ago. Now even more so.

  2. How glorious !!! I will review these over the weekend when I have time to thoroughly enjoy!! Thank you so much for sharing !!! Wow–that photo of Lewis & Morse!!!

  3. Thanks for this Chris. It brought back happy memories, as I used to occasionally buy this magazine, which was always interesting, even if you were not particularly involved in the authors included in that edition. It also introduced me to some great new authors.
