Jane Smith, who is member of the Endeavour Facebook page, uploaded a picture of the scene when Dorothea Frazil (played Abigail Thaw) meets Endeavour for the first time in the pilot episode of Endeavour. It’s a lovely scene, so as a postscript to Jane’s post I decided to put together this video of the above-mentioned scene. I hope you all enjoy.
This is a lovely scene from the pilot episode of Endeavour. John Thaw’s daughter, Abigail Thaw, plays the reporter Dorothy Frazil. She meets Endeavour (Shaun Evans) and asks if they have met before.
Thank you so much. I loved the scene and photos.
When I saw this episode, I didn’t realize who Ms. Frazil was. Watching it again here, I can see Ms. Thaw’s strong resemblance to her father. He is very much missed. I look forward to seeing her in future productions. Thank you for posting.
I love this scene so much.
Hi Sue, Nan and Janice. I’m glad you liked the post. It is a lovely scene.
Lovely! It made me tear up a bit, so well underplayed.
Youve done it again…!! Well done, a bit teary now……..
As you know Abigail Thaw play the Oxford Mail editor Dorothea Frazil. I was going through some old magazines and found Crime Scene, issue 7 from 2017. The magazine had an article about Endeavour/Morse and I quote: “Russell Lewis has made other hidden references to Inspector Morse. The dictionary definition of ‘frazil’ is slushy ice. So ‘D. Frazil’ might also mean de-ice – or in other words, Thaw”. Nothing more to it, and maybe you all knew this, just though it could be fun to share.
Thank you Bo. I’m sure there are many who are not aware of that connection.
