Morse and Lewis: The Fox Acting Family Dynasty.

fox family

Hello fellow Morsels and welcome to my new post. I would like to start by saying that the above Fox family tree is not one of mine but I commandeered it sometime ago from I think it was the Daily Mail or Express website. Of course, it is incomplete as it doesn’t show the children of Laurence and his brothers, sister and cousins.

So, this post was the idea of a fellow Morse fan and to my discredit I cannot remember who that person was. My sincerest apologies. But a big thank you to that person for a great idea and hopefully they will be happy with my efforts. Click on the video below to see the Fox family in Morse and Lewis.

Digressing somewhat from the context of this post I want to mention the ‘following’ of my blog. I recently noticed that many who leave comments or visit the site, especially through Facebook, haven’t actually clicked on the ‘follow blog’ option on the right hand side of the blog. The only reason I ask is that if you like my blog enough to want to follow it is simply to attain a higher profile. There is no monetary gain for me as I haven’t monetized the blog. Anyway, thank you all for your support and love.

  1. Hi Chris – I was the person who suggested the Fox connections and I love the video. THANK YOU! There was a connection I hadn’t realized – the brother who was in Your Sudden Death Question.
I’m so glad I found your blog 🙂

    1. Hi Ann. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. Regarding your suggestion, I had written it down, as I do with all suggestions I receive, but didn’t write your name down. Sorry about that.

  2. And don’t forget Emilia Fox, Chris:

” Who was your first crush?

I had weird crushes. I loved Columbo, and Basil Rathbone in Sherlock Holmes. I absolutely adored John Thaw in Inspector Morse.

Did you ever get a chance to confess your ardour?

No, although I was always saying when I started out, “Please, please can I be a dead body in Inspector Morse?” In the event it would have been a disaster; I would have been so bright red and tongue-tied. “

    1. Hi Francis, I didn’t forget Emilia but she didn’t appear in either Morse or Lewis. To be honest I can’t remember who my first crush was. I do remember having crush like feelings on Rita Hayworth, Valerie Harper (she played Rhoda in the TV sitcom of the TV sitcom of the same name) and Lauren Bacall.

      1. Hi Chris, sorry my English is not so good. So I’ll try to explain:

The above said was from an interview of Emilia Fox with the Radio Times.

She wasn’t in a Morse or Lewis, but she would have liked to be in an episode as a dead body.

By the way, it was nice to see Morse in the video again. What a brilliant actor he was. So sadly missed.

      2. I see that it’s an old discussion but I found Lewis s6e2 “Generation of Vipers” very amusing when Freddie Fox walks up to Laurence and says “and who are you???”. Such animosity between them. Very well played. But they are Foxes and skilled actors.

  3. Wouldn’t it have been fun if they had chosen James Fox to play Hathaway’s father in the later episodes?! Great fun this post! Thanks. (I’ve never ‘followed’ anyone in the ten years I’ve blogged – don’t even know what it means really.)

    1. Hi Nan. ‘Followed’ just means that you will receive notifications by email whenever I publish a new post. I imagine that they might have considered James or Edward Fox for the role of his father if they hadn’t already appeared in the Lewis series previously.

      1. I have a blog list on the side of my blog with the most recently posted ones at the top so I never miss a post! Also, my computer knows as soon as I type in ‘mor’ – it goes immediately to your blog. Smart computer.

  4. Thank you so much for featuring the Fox family! I have been a huge fan of theirs for decades. I hope you have more blog entries which feature them in the future! Thank you again!
