I apologise that that I have not posted for some time but unfortunately my mum, (whom I care for) was ill and subsequently I myself also fell ill. However, I am glad to report that we are both much better.

So here is my second post on the locations used in the episodes of ‘Lewis’. The first post can be found by clicking here. I hope you enjoy the following post.

Our first location is Magdalen College, High Street, Oxford which stands in for Seymour College and includes all the locations of this fictitious college, Principal’s house, quad, cloisters and forecourt.

The location used was Riverbank, Shiplake College, Shiplake, Oxfordshire, ( http://www.shiplake.org.uk/ ). The building in the background in the first picture is to the right of the location in the picture below. The Police Range Rover parked in the second picture above would have been parked practically in the centre of the picture below and was probably placed there to hide the Shiplake College sign seen in the picture below.

Randolph Hotel, Beaumont Street,

The Randolph is where Lewis and Hathaway interview Ingrid Nelson who will also be known to Morse fans as the actress, Sian Thomas, who played Carol Sharp in the episode, ‘The Last Enemy’. Click here for my review of that episode.

And so we come to the end of another post. I hope you enjoyed the post and that it may become useful for some of you when you next plan to visit Oxford. I’m hoping that I will be able to do just that next year.

Author: Chris Sullivan

Up until a few years ago I was my mum's full time carer. She died in, 2020, of Covid. At the moment I am attempting to write a novel.

  1. Congrats as usual on excellent and detailed work….amazing how the locations are spread about.Great to read and enjoy…Thank You. Hope you and your family are all well recovered now…

  2. I am always amazed at the fact that every scene, inside and out, doesn’t take place in Oxford. I guess I am the viewer who believes completely in what I see. ;<))

  3. Well researched info posted with regards Lewis. I find it so interesting knowing where what was filmed. The old with the new. Fox was tolerably in the series. Pity he’s dipped his toe into politics. Whately of course is an ace actor, as he was in Morse .
