————————–
Hello everyone and welcome to a new post. Recently, I created two posts on Morse’s ever changing living room. While I wrote those posts and watched the episodes, it occurred to me that Morse’s office also changes substantially through the series: from the actual office to the posters on the wall.
This is part two. If you wish to read part one, click HERE.
Up first,
FAT CHANCE.
First office scene is around 37 minutes.

The poster marked in the above screenshot we saw for the first time in The Wolvercote Tongue episode.

Within the same scene we get a better look at what’s in the office.
We get a look at some of Lewis’s children’s drawings.

In the same scene we get to see what is behind Morse.

We see the print of a painting by Jean-Honore Fragonard in 1767 and the painting is called The Swing, first seen in Second Time Around.

I created a video about this painting. Click HERE to watch the video on Youtube.
This poster is advertising a production of Mozart’s, The Marriage of Figaro.
In the above screenshot of Morse we can also see postcards pinned to the wall. In the previous episode, Second Time Around no postcards were pinned to the wall as can be seen from a screenshot from the afore-mentioned episode.

Did someone send the postcards or did Morse bring them back from one of his holiday?
We are back in the office, briefly, at around one hour and 10 minutes.

Back to the office at around one hour and 18 minutes.
We glimpse another drawing done by one of Lewis’s children.

It looks like an aeroplane or is it the space shuttle named, Endeavour? 😉😜 The Endeavour was commissioned in 1987 (coincidently the year the Morse series was first broadcast. The Endeavour’s first voyage was in 1992. This episode, Fat Chance, was first broadcast in 1991.
In the same scene we get a better, though not a full, look at the calendar behind Morse’s desk.

The next office scene is around the one hour and 24 minutes. Lewis is talking to Mrs Gardam. However, all the shots are close ups of Lewis and Mrs Gardam.
Up next we have the third episode of the fifth series.
Who Killed Harry Field?
The first office scene is around the five minute mark.

In the above screenshot we can see a silver framed picture of what looks like a small version of the production poster used for the Magic Flute opera that Morse was to appear in from the episode Masonic Mysteries.

In the same scene below,

The two posters that were on the office wall in the episode, Fat Chance have gone as can be seen from the screenshot, below, from Fat Chance.

The poster that is now on the wall, I can’t identify.
We are back in the office at around six minutes. Morse is looking at pictures of the dead Harry Field.

In the screenshot above we can see Morse’s radio. It looks different from the radio we last saw in the episode, Second Time Around, (see below).

From the screenshot from this episode below, we can see that Lewis’s children’s drawings are different or non existent.

The ‘Endeavour space shuttle’ picture has gone.
At around 16 minutes we get a good view of the office.

The poster indicated by the red arrow was on the other side of the wall in the previous episode, Fat Chance, (see below).

The blue arrow in the above screenshot from Who Killed Harry Field? indicates that the calendar is has a different picture from the one in, Fat Chance.
Not only is the calendar picture different but in this scene we now see we are in September,

In Fat Chance, see below, the calendar showed, July.

The radio has now moved from the large cabinet, as seen above, to being behind Morse.

Do Morse and Lewis both have radios in the office? Morse for his music and Lewis to listen to the football and cricket games. One postcard previously seen in the Fat Chance episode has gone.
In the same scene we see that one of the walls has a large blackboard.

Back to the office at around 29 minutes.

Morse is drinking Glenfiddich. A bottle can be seen on his desk.
Back to the office at around 55 minutes.

A poster, partially seen on the left of the screenshot once seen on the opposite wall in the episode Fat Chance, see below.

Has now moved to the opposite wall.

Back at the office at around one hour and 9 minutes.

A large artists portfolio has been place behind Morse obscuring the postcard, calendar etc.
Back to the office at one hour and 19 minutes.

Now, onto,
Greeks Bearing Gifts.
First office scene is around 12 minutes.

We now have more children’s pictures.

We now have an unobscured view of Jean-Honore Fragonard’s painting, The Swing. In the previous episode it was obscured by another poster, see below.

In the same scene the calendar has a new picture.

Back to the office at around 42 minutes.

We see even more children’s drawings on the filing cabinet behind Lewis. We also get a good view of the framed Magic Flute flyer.
We get back to the office around the 49 minute mark with Lewis and Morse watching a video about the Greek trireme.

Above Morse’s head we see some flyers that have replaced the unidentified poster that was there in the previous episode. See below.

We return to the office at around 55 minutes for a very short scene.

Back at the office around one hour and 23 minutes.

The blackboard gets used for the first time to name all the suspects.
The ‘Endeavour’ drawing has reappeared.
Up next we go down under.
Promised Land.
First and only office scene is around the 5 minute mark.
The poster advertising the Oxford Theatre can be glimpsed on the far wall.

Once again we now have an unobscured view of Jean-Honore Fragonard’s painting, The Swing. There is no longer a calendar but simply a picture in its place. No sign of the postcards.

The children’s drawings are no longer on the filing cabinet as sen in the previous episode. See below.

Next,
Dead on Time.
First office scene at 12 minutes.
The office has completely changed. Morse’s desk for starters is in a different position.

The window blinds are now white while previously they were wooden slats. At the top right next to the plant is a small version of a poster we previously see later in this episode in Morse’s home.

Back to the screenshot above from this episode.

Previously, Morse’s desk was between the windows to the right of the screenshot. The set up of what is behind Morse’s desk on the wall is all different.
From the next screenshot we can see that Morse and Lewis are in a completely new office and location.

Now Sergeant Lewis’s name is on the door.
Next office scene is at 21 minutes.

The large chunky wooden cabinet is still being used. Still filled with box files.

In the above screenshot we can see a poster advertising the Ashmolean Museum.
Back to the office at around one hour and 25 minutes.

Morse has got himself a more up-to-date radio/cassette.

On the wall behind Morse we can see what looks like postcards. They look like the kind of postcard one gets from from a museum gift shop.
AT at around one hour and 28 minutes we get a short scene in the office with Lewis.

With one of the windows behind Lewis this means his desk is at a right angle to Morse’s desk.
Next up,
Happy Families.
First scene is around the 30 minute mark.

The Ashmolean poster has disappeared. Morse’s desk has two telephones. The fax machine was not on his desk in the Dead on Time episode and there was only one phone.

The office is certainly mush brighter than previous offices. It also has plants, lots of plants. There is, as you can see, a plaque on the wall.
There is a brief office scene at around 52 minutes.

We can see postcards behind Lewis’s ‘L’ shaped desks.
Another brief scene at around 56 minutes.

A good look at the office. We can now see a poster of Great Britain at the top right of the pin board.
Next up is third episode of the sixth series.
Death of The Self.
No office scenes.
So, on to,
Absolute Conviction.
First office scene at around 24 minutes.

On the pin board behind Morse we see a poster that reads, ‘Music at Oxford.’ The programme for Holywell Music Room?
We get a brief scene of Lewis in the office at around the 34 minute mark.

Onto the next episode.
Cherubim and Seraphim.
First office scene at around 41 minutes.

In this scene we get a good look at Lewis’s office area. Like Morse he has postcards on the wall. No children’s drawings any more.

There is a flyer on the pin board that reads, ‘Judgement Day.’ A play? I can find no mention of it. there is a recent play called Judgement Day. There is an opera from the early 2000s with that name. The music programme we saw in the episode, Absolute Conviction has gone. See pic below.

Back to the office around one hour and 20 minutes.

A new poster on the pin board. A production of Medea an ancient Greek tragedy written by Euripides. More postcards on the filing cabinet.
Next a brief scene with Lewis at around one hour and 24 minutes.

Lewis is listening to a rather snazzy radio. Well, he is listening to static as he hopes to hear where the next rave will be held.
Back to the office around the one hour and 25 minute mark.

Heavens, there are lots of plants in the office. On the left, on the wall, we can see the map of the Great Britain that was previously on the pin board. Morse and Lewis now have access to a kettle. So, need to use the police station tea and coffee machine any more.
In this scene we get a better look at the Medea poster. We can clearly see the production was held at The Royal Opera.

We can see two posters advertising music at Oxford.

This photo has been on the pin board for quite some time. This is the best view of it so far. What the hell is it a photo of?
Another brief office scene at around one hour and 36 minutes.

On now to,
Deadly Slumber.
First office scene at around 17 minutes.

Morse’s desk is becoming a bit more cluttered with four wire trays.

This photo next to Lewis’s desks has been seen on Morse’s pin board in previous episodes. For example in the episode Happy Families.

Next scene at around 32 minutes.

The filing cabinet is different from the one we saw in the episode, Cherubim and Seraphim. The Turandot poster has returned as has the silver framed flyer for The Magic Flute. In front of the Turandot poster we can see magazines. Well, I think it is but they do look like albums. But, why have have LPs in the office? The radio is also different from before. I’m not sure what the poster is that is pinned to the board.

A nice tin of biscuits circled.
Next scene, 41 minutes.

Back to the office at 52 minutes.

Lewis has a nice collection of rubber stamps, bottom right, on his desk. Also, notice a picture of a dog that can be seen above the lamp.

A dog toy/ornament can be seen on Lewis’s desk. Does Lewis own a dog?

Top left of the screenshot we can see a poster that reads, ‘Max.’ I can’t make out what else is printed on the poster.
Next office scene at one hour and 2 minutes.

Notice the photo behind Morse on the wall of what looks like a military or police academy photo. We haven’t seen that photo since the episode, The Silent World of Nicholas Quinn.

A coffee machine has now replaced the kettle we saw in the episode, Cherubim and Seraphim.

An interesting poster on the pin board. A production of Alice Through the Looking Glass?
Back to the office at one hour and 15 minutes.

Bottom left of the picture we can see a kettle. So, the office has both a kettle and a coffee machine.
Next scene at around one hour and 23 minutes.

For the first time I’ve noticed a Royal Opera poster behind Morse and below the pin board.

A slightly better view of the poster on the pin board. We can clearly see the name, Mozart.

At the bottom of the poster I can just about make out, The Marriage of Figaro and maybe, Così fan tutte.
I’ve found what the poster is. It’s a late 1980s, early 1990s Royal Opera House “season” poster. “A Celebration of Mozart”. Designed by Irene von Trekow.

In the same scene and for the first time we see a photo of one of Lewis’s kids, Lynne.

The final office scene at one hour 33 minutes.

Next episode,
Day of the Devil.
First, office scene at 18 minutes.

Next scene at 40 minutes.

We get a better view of the blue poster behind Morse. It’s another Royal Opera House poster. I can make out the letters RITANI. That can only mean one opera. I Puritani by Bellini. I found the poster.

Next scene around 54 minutes.

The colour of Morse’s phones have changed again. he now has two white ones when previously he had one white and one brownish coloured.
Let’s move on to,
Twilight of the Gods.
First office scene at 17 minutes.

The Turandot poster is still there. On the pin board there is an art department crested poster for the fictional opera singer Gwladys Probert. To the left of that is the Mozart poster we saw in a previous episode.

For the first time we see a framed photograph of someone on Morse’s side of the room. But who? His niece Marilyn Garrett?

A better view of the Gwladys Probert opera; Götterdämmerung by Wagner.
A short scene at one hour and 23 minutes.

Another short scene at one hour and 33 minutes.

The red and brown bottles look like containers for tomato and brown sauce that one would find in a fish and chip shop. Must be for Lewis’s fish and chips he loves so much. The coffee maker has gone and only the kettle left.

Morse and Lewis have a table top fridge in their office. The coffee maker has now moved to behind Lewis’s desk.
Back to the office at one hour and 35 minutes.

Another visit at one hour and 37 minutes.

We can see that the Gwladys Probert opera was playing at the Holywell Mouse Room.
Now on to the first of five specials.
The Way Through the Woods.
First visit to the office at 11 minutes. But this is Morse and Lewis office but DCI Martin Johnsons.

Morse sits at Lewis’s desk. A white board has appeared behind Lewis’s desk.
We next visit DCI Martin Johnson’s office at around 16 minutes.

Lewis has set up camp in DCI Martin Johnson’s office. However…
Back at the police station at 32 minutes

We see Lewis has his own office.
Back to the office at 34 minutes.

Unlike Morse, Lewis only has a few postcards and photos on his walls and filing cabinet.
Back to Lewis’s office at 40 minutes.

We eventually see Morse’s office at around 49 minutes.

If its the same office he and Lewis occupied during the last few episodes then his desk has changed position.
Back to Lewis’s office at around the one hour mark.

We return to Lewis’s office at around one hour and 18 minutes.

It’s during this scene Morse and Lewis have their colossal argument.
Back to Morse’s office at one hour and 28 minutes.

A new poster Morse’s wall. Something about Renaissance Drawings.

The Turandot poster is till in his office.
Now on to,
The Daughters of Cain.
First office scene at around 29 minutes.

A new poster on the wall advertising, Verdi. It’s a poster advertising a Verdi Festival. Unfortunately, I couldn’t track down the poster.

A thesaurus on the window sill. To help with his crosswords. To Morse’s right we see a radio/cassette. Another different one to the one he had in the previous episode.
The next office scene is at 51 minutes.

So, it looks like Morse and Lewis are sharing an office again. Lewis has a yellow cup with the words Oxford United, Oxford’s local football team.

Lewis has many crimes of scene photos on the wall behind him. At Lewis’s right shoulder. Is that a drawing or a cartoon?
Next office scene is at one hour and 5 minutes.

This is a new room for Morse and Lewis’s office.
Back to the office at one hour and 33 minutes.

Above the map there is a long rectangular photo. It looks like a school, college or university type of photo.

On to the third of the five specials.
Death is Now my Neighbour.
First office scene at 39 minutes.

There is a calendar on the wall to the right of the window. It wasn’t there in the previous episode. It shows, April.
Next office scene at 51 minutes.

Something of a rogue’s gallery behind Lewis. I wonder if these are pictures of the film crew made to look like ‘mug’ shots?
Next office scene at one hour and three minutes.

That drawing/cartoon has moved further up the wall.

Morse has himself a nice lemon mug.
Onwards to the penultimate episode.
The Wench is Dead.
The first, brief, office scene is at one hour and 18 minutes.

PC Adrian Kershaw has commandeered Lewis’s desk. I’m assuming it’s Lewis’s desk as Kershaw wouldn’t have one being a constable. That drawing/cartoon is on the wall behind Kershaw.
Next office scene is at one hour and 20 minutes.

There is a Bodleian Calendar to Strange’s right.
Onto the final episode.
The Remorseful Day.
First office scene at 20 minutes.

The Verdi poster can be seen on Morse’s right. Postcards pinned to the board. One of them looks like Radcliffe camera.

The office has changed again. The desks are in different places.

The red arrow points out a pamphlet for Oxford Cello Concerts. The drawing looks like it could be of Holywell Music Hall.
Next office scene at 41 minutes.

A new picture on the wall but I can’t make out what it is.
The above was the final office scene.

Wonderful Chris! Many thanks. I think the black and white pic you asked about in the Cherubim Office shows rifles and guns?
Hoping you will do Strange’s office as previously mentioned. atb Pete
Thank you, Pete. Strange’s office is coming in the next few weeks.
Yes, it is ever changing
