Hello everyone, I hope this post finds you all well mentally as well as physically.
As the title suggests this post is about all the Oxford colleges used as locations in all 33 episodes of the Lewis series. I will only mention those colleges which were used as a location internally. However, I will mention a college if someone is simply exiting or entering a college or it is used to establish where a character is. At the end of the post there is an alphabetical list of the colleges used, plus which episodes were filmed therein.
I have already created two posts, part one and part two, for the Oxford Colleges utilised in the Morse episodes.
Click HERE to read part one of the Oxford Colleges utilised in the Morse series. Click HERE for part two. The links will open in a new window.
If you enjoy the post leave a like at the end of the post.
I plan to also create a post about all the Oxford colleges used in the Endeavour series and then a post with a list of all three series combined.
Let’s get started.
The times are based on the British DVDs. The times stated are not exact but are within the minute the location appears.

A magnificent piece of work.Well done..john mair
Great website – I believe in S3E3 that Cantor is looking out of a window from Balliol College, not Trinity. Its the end room in the corner of front quad on Staircase 3
Thank you LG for your kind comment. I will check your observation.
Well done you! I always wondered in which colleges the scenes were shot. Also, what is the cafe where Lewis and Hathaway are having coffee on the street, and which street is it?
Keep up the great work! Thank you,
Thank you Janice and welcome. The café is on Broad Street. The original café used in the Lewis series has closed but another establishment has opened and the alfresco café location has been reopened.
Great website and effort. But for Season 4 Episode 2 you completely (and regrettably) omit Green Templeton College, site of the Observatory! This has has also been missed on IMDB, and I wonder why, as it’s a notable part of the episode, and indeed filmed indoors, in both the quad and the Observatory…
Hi Agatha. I honestly, didn’t realise the observatory was a part of Green Templeton College though they are, of course, adjacent to each other. I thought they were separate entities. Silly me. I actually visited Green Templeton a few years ago. Thank you for the info, I will add this to the second edition of my Lewis book.
