Here we have an interview with Kevin Whately before the broadcast of series eight. In series eight Lewis has ‘retired’ and Hathaway promoted.

On the bottom right of the above page Kevin talks about Colin Dexter. He mentions a photo of Colin in the third episode of the eighth series. I have mentioned this in my book on the Lewis series on page 282. The photograph can be seen at 54 minutes and 51 seconds at the second hour of the episode. Lewis is walking up a spiral staircase and bumps into a student who drops the papers he is carrying. Below is a screenshot of the scene.
