Sunday Night Morse Club: Live Stream ‘TWILIGHT OF THE GODS’ on Twitch, SUNDAY 13TH OCTOBER; 8pm BST. Watch and Chat.

Hello everyone and welcome.

Here we are at episode 28 of the Morse series as a live stream on Twitch. This episode was the final episode as part of a series. The next five episodes were all one off specials that were broadcast between 1995 and 2000.

Twilight of the Gods was broadcast in 1993 so fans had to wait two years for the first one off special, The Way Through the Woods. It was well worth the wait.

The Twilight of the Gods episode is not one of my favourite episodes. It has many worthwhile aspects to it but to me it is spoiled by the horrible gay stereotypes and this is not helped by the actors overplaying the gay characters. The actors’ acting is as camp as a row of tents and spoils what could have been a good episode. I cringe every time the two gay characters are on the screen. I don’t know if the actors where told to play the characters in such a camp way or this was how the actors decided to play it. There is also the stereotype that gay people will ‘try it on’ with any straight guy: See scene when Lewis is interviewing the voice coach. Shame on Julian Mitchell the episode writer if he wrote the characters this way.

Funny story in regard to one of the actors in the episode. While at Colin Dexter’s memorial service I met Celia Montague who played Adele in the episode. Celia Montague is also responsible for a painting of Colin.

So we sat down together in Christ Church Cathedral and I then I jokingly said that i’m surprised God let through the doors being that i’m a long time atheist. Not a great joke but she looked at me as if I had spat on her. She then said ‘well I can let you know of a few books that will change your mind and your life’. ‘Oh no thanks, i’m a devout atheist’ I answered. She didn’t talk to me for the rest of the day.

The episode does include Colin Dexter’s best cameo.

You don’t have to join Twitch to watch but it if you do join (it’s free) it has only the minimal amount of signing up protocol to go through and this will allow you to chat to me and everybody else.

Not only can you enjoy watching the episode but you can chat (via text box) with other Morse fans. Some people who have watched the episodes on the live stream have said that they have not only learned more about the episodes but come to appreciate episodes they had previously disliked.

Please join me and many others to watch this great episode on the social media platform, (one of the biggest in the world) TWITCH and watch the episode on a live stream. Twitch is FREE to join and FREE to watch.

For those not in the know in regard to Twitch, when I write ‘watch and chat’ the chat is via a text window so there is no actual talking over the episode.

To ‘chat’ (this means to type in the chat window that runs alongside the video) you need to register but that is all rather simple. It’s only a matter of choosing a screen name and entering your email address.

So, over the next weeks I am hoping to live stream all 33 of the Morse episodes on Twitch. Twitch is one of the biggest social media sites in the world which allows people to live stream their various activities.

I am hoping that many of you will be able to join me on Sunday 13th October at 8pm BST. That is around Midday Pacific Time and around 3pm Eastern Daylight Time.

I would like to say a huge thank you to those who have become Patrons of the site and also a huge thank you to those who have made donations. What do I mean by Patrons?

What is Patreon? Patreon is a membership platform that makes it easy for artists and creators to get paid. It’s a membership platform that provides business tools for creators to run a subscription content service, with ways for artists to build relationships with their subscribers, or “patrons”.

With Patreon you set up how much you wish to pay monthly. There are three tiers, $5, $10 and $15. It’s like paying for a magazine subscription.

Patreon primarily uses Paypal which is easy to join and a safe way to send money. https://www.paypal.com/uk/home
