VIDEO: The View From The Top Of University Church of St. Mary the Virgin, OXFORD.

Hello everyone and welcome to a new post. I hope you are well. Personally, I am rather tired as it has been a rather busy and hard week. As I mentioned on Facebook I have been helping my brother build a mezzanine floor , including staircase from scratch. It made me realise why I prefer a sedentary life of reading and writing.

Anyway, enough of my trials and tribulations. Here is a video I made in April 2019 of my visit to the University Church of St. Mary the Virgin on the High Street, Oxford. Many of the views of Oxford City for the Morse, Lewis and Endeavour series are filmed from this location.

It also backs onto Radcliffe Square.

My friend Kim did intend to climb to the top with me but decided against it. This was due to the fact that not only is it a long climb but a incredibly steep and narrow staircase. So narrow that one has to climb or descend single file. If you suffer from severe claustrophobia then I would probably advise against doing it. If someone is ascending or descending while you are doing the opposite then you have to utilise the small window areas that accompany the arrow slit windows to allow people to pass. However the views are stunning. The area at that circles three quarters of the top of the church is narrow. Again, one has to move in single file. If you suffer from acrophobia I would be inclined to give this a miss.

The cost is £5 if my memory serves me right. The staff were very nice and refunded Kim when she returned to the reception desk.
