It has happened at last. After tonight’s broadcast of the Endeavour episode Quartet we have not only one actor who has appeared in all three series in the Morse universe but we have two.

The two actors are Andrew Paul and Richard Durden. Andrew Paul appeared in the Morse episode, Deceived by Flight, the Lewis episode, Intelligent Design as Ron Tibitt and the Endeavour episode Quartet as Joe Dozier. Richard Durden appeared in the first Morse episode Dead of Jericho, the Lewis episode  The Soul of Genius and the Endeavour episode Quartet.

To celebrate here is a video of both actors appearances in all three series.

  1. I wonder how many people will watch The Dead of Jericho on ITV3 tomorrow morning and think, hmmm that chap playing Alan/Tony Richards sure looks familiar…

  2. Looking forward to your full commentary on this episode! I thought there was a lot to like, but a few faults as well.

  3. What an absolute treat this post was! I’m delighted, and hope they will try and use more actors from the earlier shows. Fun to get a glimpse of Endeavour, though I am avoiding all info about it until it comes over here. Thanks so much.

  4. Glen Davies also achieved the Trifecta with Morse (Twilight of the Gods), Lewis (Intelligent Design), and Endeavour (Lazaretto).

    1. Hi Jeffrey. I never commented on Jeffrey as he has a non speaking part in all three series and as such it’s not the same as the main characters.

  5. Dianna Quick appears in Morse season 6 episode 4: ¨Absolute Conviction¨, and in Lewis episode Season 3 Episode 3: ¨Dark Matter¨.
Another ¨Brideshead¨ actress, Phoebe Nicholls, appears in ¨Endeavour¨ episode: ¨Lazeretto¨.
Another interesting ¨Brideshead¨ link is the start of the Lewis episode ¨The Dead of Winter¨. Hathaway, responding to a murder at an old estate, becomes aware that the estate is connected to his childhood.
This is very similar to the start of ¨Brideshead Revisited¨ when during WW2, Jeremy Irons character finds himself once again on the Brideshead Estate.
Another repeat is in Lewis: Season 3. The character also plays a Tabloid Journalist in Morse: Season 6 I think.

    1. Hi Harry. I mention all those connections in my book about the Lewis series and/or in my reviews of the episodes
