Gabrielle Blunt: Obituary (She appeared in ‘The Silent World of Nicholas Quinn’).

While updating and checking information on my blog I came across the sad news of the death of Gabrielle Blunt on June 10, 2014. She had a small scene in the second episode of the first series of Inspector Morse as Mrs Evans, Nicholas Quinn’s cleaning lady.

She appeared in many of Britain’s favourite TV shows; Crossroads, Dr. Finlay’s Casebook, Within These Walls, Emmerdale (23 episodes as Nellie Ratcliffe 1978-79), Crown Court, Rumpole of the Bailey and the list goes on. Her last TV role was in the TV show Heartbeat in 2001.

This may seem an odd obituary to include on my blog as she appeared for only about two minutes. But, I write this blog not only for my love of the Morse universe but to keep the memory alive of all the actors who have graced the Morse universe as a thank you for being part of great show be it Morse, Lewis or Endeavour.

After having looked after my mum for some 11 years she is now unfortunately in a nursing home. I'm afraid her dementia worsened as did her physical capabilities. UPDATE: My mum died from Covid-19 on the 6th May 2020. So, for the first time in 21 years I find myself no longer caring for anyone. Apart from my mum I was also a single parent to two children and also looked after my dad who had Alzheimers, (he died in 2005). So, I have decided to return to University to try and get another degree this time in English Literature. (My other degree I got some 30 years ago is one in Ecological Science). After a year at college I have passed all grades and now will start Edinburgh University in September 2019. I am now in second year having passed all the requirements in first year.

  1. I just watched the episode and she gave a very good performance, and her ‘butter’ knowledge helped solve the case.
