What is Patreon? Patreon is a membership platform that makes it easy for artists and creators to get paid. It’s a membership platform that provides business tools for creators to run a subscription content service, with ways for artists to build relationships with their subscribers, or “patrons”.

With Patreon you set up how much you wish to pay monthly. There are three tiers, $5, $10 and $15. It’s like paying for a magazine subscription.

Patreon primarily uses Paypal which is easy to join and a safe way to send money. https://www.paypal.com/uk/home

Up until a few years ago I was my mum's full time carer. She died last year of Covid. I am now about to start my third year year at Edinburgh University studying for a second degree this one being English Literature. My other degree is in Ecological Science. At the moment I am attempting to write a novel.

  1. These are wonderful articles, Chris. I wasn’t surprised reading about Kevin. He’s like I thought he would be and really like he is in Morse – down to earth, everyday happy guy. But now I know I really would have liked John; in fact there are two things we have in common, being somewhat of a loner and favoring Mozart above the rest. I must say, though, getting a glimpse of his home, I would not have guessed that type of decor (not that it isn’t nice) would be him – well, maybe it’s more Sheila. Somehow I guess I picture his place being more like the Morse one. 😉

  2. I loved these articles about two of my favorite actors/characters of all time. Thank you so much for posting them.
It’s comforting to know that John Thaw was in reality not alone, as Morse was. It kind of makes up for some of the sad scenes. And also great to see that the loving, caring Lewis was much the same in real life. It would be terribly unsettling to learn that Lewis was played by a Scrooge-y kind of person. I’ve enjoyed your book about the Lewis series, and am looking forward to the new edition. Have you read Sheila Hancock’s book about John Thaw’s life and hers?

  3. I read that book some years ago Frances. It is worth a look indeed.

Interestingly John’s first wife didn’t remain a housewife forever. She is feminist activist and historian Prof Sally Alexander, Emeritus Professor of Modern History at Goldsmiths College London. I believe she appears as a character in an episode of the most recent Endeavour series.
