Hello everyone and welcome to a new post. I’m afraid it’s not the most exciting post but it is the best I can do at the moment with the time I have available. College is going well and so far I have passed all my assignments.

I hope you are all well. Take care.

After having looked after my mum for some 11 years she is now unfortunately in a nursing home. I'm afraid her dementia worsened as did her physical capabilities. So, for the first time in 21 years I find myself no longer caring for anyone. Apart from my mum I was also a single parent to two children and also looked after my dad who had Alzheimers, (he died in 2005). So, I have decided to return to University to try and get another degree this time in English Literature. (My other degree I got some 30 years ago is one in Ecological Science). After a year at college I have passed all grades and now will start Edinburgh University in September 2019. A busy time ahead made even busier by my writing a book on the TV series, Lewis.

  1. Fascinating to see how an actor’s age and appearance can be so altered by the clothes they wear and hairstyles etc.

  2. So glad to have news about yourself. Sadly because your Mum, but sometimes life is hard and we need to take new thoughts in orde to imporve ourselves. excellent decision going back to Cllege. All the bes for you…

  3. OK now we know there ages- Dakota Blue is really young- I imagine she wants to go on in many more parts and other opportunities. Good Luck to her ;o)

  4. Chris, I have many DVDs in my collection in which I’ve inserted a slip of paper with the ages of the actors at the time the film was made. It can be very interesting to note that Dean Jagger, as the “old man” general in White Christmas, is actually just a year older than Bing Crosby, and Rosemary Clooney, as older sister Betty, is two years younger than baby sister Judy, played by Vera Ellen. In the case of Endeavour, everyone seems to be just about right, with the exception of Sean Evans – or would 38 be right for Morse at this point in time? (Noting that Sean E does not “read” 38. I’d have guessed 30.)
