Thank you so much! It’s magical to have all the music in one place. Chis, I appreciate all you have done for the lovers of Morse, Lewis, And Endeavour. Alice
Hi
Amazing , Beautiful work … This list about Endeavour Music is great ¡¡¡ … Muchísimas Gracias ¡¡¡
Best Regards from Spain
Thank you Gabriel, i’m glad you liked it.
I have searched to find that haunting voice of opera playing in Endeavor series 7 as he searches to find Ludo in that building and finds him only to be saved from gun shot by Violetta .It is from opera and used in the Movie Elizabeth before used as death and danger song in Endeavor. It is so sad and morbid but haunting to hear. Anyone tell me which opera and which song this is?
All information about the music in that episode is in my review post, https://morseandlewisandendeavour.com/2020/02/27/endeavour-s7e3-zenana-review-locations-literary-references-music-etc-spoilers/
Lovely work. Thanks
How wonderful, thanks very much. I listened and added them all in a continuous YouTube playlist if you would like the link,or you can just search for it on youtube.
I wonder why there was no music in S5 Colours…obviously, quite a departure from the norm, as you have shown.
Thanks again!
Hi Fran! I know it’s years order but I’d love the link! 😊
I cant get them to open?
Are you trying to open the files via phone or tablet? If yes, you will need to change your settings to allow you to download or open them. You will also need excel and a pdf reader to open them. Hope this helps.
Hey Chris, I love the site. I am trying to open on my desk top computer. When I click on the red numbers at the top of the episode it does not do anything. would it work to copy and paste in the you tube site? Thanks for getting back to me. I’m in the US (Tennessee) and I just found your site today so I have much to explore.
When I did it, Phyllis, I just clicked on the title of piece, i.e., “Madame Butterfly and the section is called One Fine (or beautiful) Day”–can you see that that type is a different color of gray, or almost olive green? If you click on that, the YouTube file should open. It’s such a wonderful collection!
Thanks for helping Phyllis and i’m glad you are enjoying my post.
Hi Phyllis. Fran is right. Click on the title of the piece of music and that should open the track on youtube.
That worked…Thank you so so much <3
Thank you so much for compiling this wonderful list!
Also, thank you for providing the links to the music on youtube! It’s wonderful to listen to them!
Just watched the last episode of Endeavor Season 5 .. wondering if you know the artist/song with the lyrics “Shadows fall when dusk is passing” Thanks .. Carmel
Hi Carmel. It may be mentioned in my review of the episode https://morseandlewisandendeavour.com/2018/03/14/endeavour-icarus-s5e6-review-music-locations-literary-references-etc/
I truly appreciate the service you provide, Chris! I have found a huge amount of great classical music via “Morse” and “Endeavour”, and you make getting to the music easy. Good luck in college!
Thank you John. I’m glad you are enjoying my website. I wish there were more classical music in the Endeavour series to enjoy.
Fantastic, Chris, thank you! I’m a music theorist with research interest in the mid to late German romantics and I still come to your site for quick reference.
Thank you Bea for your kind and thoughtful comment.
In season 2, “Sway” where Morse and Monica are in the restaurant the music in the background is an instrumental version of the Italian song “‘O sole mio” by Eduardo Di Capua.
Great website by the way, I enjoy it very much. Thank you! 🙂
Excellent, really thrilled that you have taken the time to list all the music. I have downloaded much of it. Thank you.
David
I wish you the best in your study of English Literature and your book about the LEWIS series. I look forward to your thoughts on that series. My favorite line from that show is, “it was only a small bomb.”
Thank you Joseph. Many great lines in Lewis.
Thank you so much. What a treasure this list is. I am printing it out and will reference it whenever I watch Endeavour and when I go to the music store! Thank you! Thank you!
Thank you Susan for such a kind comment, I’m glad you like the list.
The theme at the end of each of the episodes is a classical melody that is very familiar but I can’t for the life of me remember what it is. Can you help?
The end theme is a variation on the original Morse theme.
And if I am not mistaken, the tapping sort of organ staccato beeps or buzzes are reminiscent of Morse Code… anyone know what message is being “sent”?
Thank you so much! Looking forward to an update on series six 🙂
Thank you, Chris, so much! … no more hunting around for the wonderful Endeavour Music. Your hard work and keen knowledge is much appreciated.
CK
You are very welcome Cookie and welcome to my website.
Would it will possible to make one or more CD with all thes marvellous music?
Hi. Only if you have a CD burner and the tracks to burn.
Hello Chris – Simply Amazing Effort to collate all of this Marvellous Music.
Endeavour is a Stunning Series and made more so by the settings and music.
We have just watched SEASON 7 and cannot wait until you can add that OPERATIC themed soundtrack to your collection here and on YouTube.
Once Again Thank you so much from Susan in Alkimos in Western Australia
Thank you Susan and welcome to my website. I must find time to update the music information.
Actually being Polish, have to correct a mention reg. Ep02 of Season Two, namely [quot]: “00h25m56s Traume (From Wesendonk-Lieder) by Richard Wagner”, was actually a No. 9 (op. 9) Nocturne of Fryderyk Szopen (Chopin), the Polish composer. Thanks
Hi Michal. It is possible that the version of the episode you saw is different to the UK version. Many countries outside the UK have a different sountrack due to things like copyright. Sometimes, a country’s TV company will change the music in a belief that it will more suitable than the one used in the UK original. Hope this helps.
Excellent investigation work, mate! My daughters and I appreciate your website. God bless you in all your endevours!
Thank you Julie for your lovely comment.
Love this and all your amazing work – this is an incredible catalogue. I hope you are doing okay. Just wondering Chris – did you order Series 7 of Endeavour on DVD ? I know you have in the past (even when you have not been enamoured with the series) – I have always ordered them and despite my opinion (only mine) that this was the worst and weakest series ever I did still only to have my only DVD player decide to die on me – just wondered about any extras – you sometimes review them I think.
Hi Maria. No, I haven’t ordered it as I was so disappointed in the series. However, if I see it being sold at a reduced price I will buy it.
Thanks – Yes I don’t blame you – i pre-ordered mine than saw the series but it was too late to cancel. I hope this enforced halt to production gives them much valuable time to make the next and last series worthwhile.
We can but hope Maria.
Thanks so much. So hard to get this kind of info.
You’re welcome Clark.
Thank you. And good luck in your studies. Enjoy.
Thank you, Peter.
Thanks to this list I was FINALLY able to find which piece of music had been haunting me – and it brought me a lot of new music to listen to along the way. Thank you so much for making this.
You’re very welcome. Glad I was able to help.
Hello Chris. I am loving Endeavour and the music that compliments it so nicely. I was wondering if there is a OST of Mr. Pheloung’s interpretation of it. It would be a lovely collection to have. Thank you for any information on this. Best, Brian.
Hi Brian. There is, unfortunately, only one CD of the music from the Endeavour series. The CD only covers music from, I think, the first two series. Hope that helps.
Hi Chris, Thank you so much for educating us all, so wonderful to know exactly what we are listening to and now these are my favourites, only this evening I googled and I am so grateful your source flagged up. Please so sad to hear of your losses, however your challenges you have continued onwards and upwards. I wish you well and hope your aspirations have changed your direction and still enjoying life, despite these sad times. This music just lifts your soul. I shall ensure I do not loose these details. Seems so little to just say thanks for you taking the time and our appreciation of all the work you have done. So grateful thanks.
Hello Joanna and welcome to my website. Thank you so much for hour lovely comment and I’m always glad that someone enjoys my efforts.
Dear Mr. Sullivan, I’m very glad that I have found your website. I am a great fan of the Endeavour series, and I have decided to try to collect the soundtrack of the episodes. I must admit that I do not like classic music in general, I grew up on pop music. But, to my greatest surprise, I am enchanted by the beautiful music and the beautiful voices I hear during the episodes. Thank you for your great efforts to collect the music of Morse for us who would like to listen them again. Best wishes, Zsuzsa, Hungary
Dear Sir
I am so sorry to hear of your personal loss. I too lost my parents to Dementia. Endeavour in this pandemic is an escape into a world of care, respect and comradeship amongst mainly men that rarely gets recognition in this otherwise cynical world. Many many thanks for this list of beautiful music to calm and sooth all our souls.
Best wishes
Peter
Thank you so much for your kind words. I’m sorry to read about the passing of your parents. I hope you are coping. The Morse Universe (the Morse, Lewis and Endeavour series) certainly is a great help in dealing with lockdown. Take care.
Couldn’t agree more Peter. Mariqué
Fantastic work here Chris, thanks so much
You’re very welcome Carole.
Dear Chris, this is a wonderful site which I have just discovered. There is a question which I would like to ask you: every time I hear the theme tune for Endeavour it reminds me of a song from the (I think) 1940s called “Lost my girl in Calico”. Did you spot this too? I am sure that no copyright infringement was intended, but to my mind it is virtually the identical music. Any comments?
Dear Chris, thank you for compiling such a vast amount of music and information from my favorite series. I watch Morse, Lewis and Endeavor episodes on most nights and I always spot something new that I didn’t see or perhaps hear before. The theme songs bring me a sense of calmness and peace, that in itself is a bonus. I’m very, very, sorry to learn about your Mother. My sincere sympathies.
Hello Deborah. I am so glad you enjoy my compilation. The music form the original Morse is always wonderful. Thank you for your sympathy regarding my mother.
Mr. Sullivan, thank you so much for the PDF list. While I recognise a lot of the music, my memory for titles is not what it used to be. You have done me a great service!
Mr Sullivan, the Morse series are fantastic. I now saw the final episode of Endeavour (7) Zenana. There are scenes of an opera in it with beautiful music, but I can’t find which opera it is. Maybe yo know it ? Thank yo so much and best whishes from Belgium Caroline van Lierde
Caroline, the opera was written by Russell lewis the writer and creator of Endeavour and the series composer Matthew Slater.
I just found this. Is there an updated compilation through 2022? Thank you!
It’s on my to-do- list Deborah.
HI Chris Just wondering what the final music was in Series 9 episode 3 Exeunt – as Endeavour drives away from the big house and meets the red Jaguar of the Morse we know driving the other way – have a feeling it might have been Faure’s In Paradisum from his Requiem, as it was used in both the pilot and the first episode, I’ve just discovered. I have just heard it sung live at the weekend and got a sort of deja vu and that is the only thing I can relate it to, as I watched that episode and found the ending incredibly moving (I was blubbing shamelessly, to be honest!). cheers M
Hello Margaret. All the music used in the episode can be found in my review of the episode.
