Dr. Laura Hobson (Clare Holman): Her body of Work; my Favourite Scenes, Part 1.

Hello Endeavourists and welcome to my new post. I realised a while ago that the Laura Hobson character is sometimes not only under appreciated but can also be underrated as a character in the Morse universe.

The character of Laura Hobson is sublimely played by Clare Holman and is a character I was very happy to see returning in the Lewis series. I always wondered if Laura Hobson was brought back as a connection to the original Morse series or as a love interest for Lewis. Or both. Did the producers of Lewis always have the plan for Laura and Robbie to become a couple? Whatever the reason it was a splendid idea and I think all those in the Morse universe would agree.

Clare Holman was born on January 12, 1964 in London, England as Clare Margaret Holman. She is an actress and director. She has been married to Howard Davies since April 2005. she also teaches acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Dr Laura Hobson appeared in five episodes of Morse;
– The Remorseful Day (2000)
– The Wench Is Dead (1998)
– Death Is Now My Neighbour (1997)
– The Daughters of Cain (1996)
– The Way Through the Woods (1995)

She also appeared in all 33 episodes of Lewis.

So, here is my tribute in my own simple, inimitable way to the character of Laura Hobson but also to the actress who portrays her, Clare Holman.

I hope you enjoy it and part 2 will follow shortly.

  1. What a wonderful idea, our Laura sure deserves a tribute! As far as Morse is concerned, I’m more of a Max De Bryn person. But when it comes to Lewis (both the show and the character), Laura is simply indispensable.
    In fact, I was considering a Laura-Robbie tribute myself for quite a while, but I never got around to it. The way their relationship is built and expressed throughout the show, I find that quite superb.
    So, thumbs up for the first part, eagerly waiting for the second!
    PS: By the way, I just wanted to say the posts on the connections between the 3 shows are great! I’m slowly working my way through them, realizing I’m really rusty, especially on Morse.

      1. I only just discovered you, which means there’s still a lot to go through… But I really really like it, so please do keep it up!

  2. Well Done, Chris…a real eye for detail. Enjoyed these clips immensely, such great stories…..looking forward to part two….
